Before Europeans arrived to North America, the population in the United States of America consisted of a Native Americans. Inmigration of North America began in the 15th century. The mayority of Europeans came to the United States between 1820-1920.
Most Europeans entered the United States of America via Ellis Island, an island in New York City. Europeans came on large ships that crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The Europeans inmigrants were greeted by the Statue of Liberty after spending weeks or months aboard the ship.
Elli Island closed in 1954.
